Back in about 1980 a year before I became friends with David Sylvian I remember listening to the ‘Gentlemen take Polaroids’ album during a rare London snowstorm. As the snowflakes whirled and danced around the Mayfair roof terrace ‘Nightporter’ with it’s waltzing, melancholy air seemed to chime perfectly with a particular mood. I can still vividly picture that moment and it was this feeling I hoped to capture in this artwork.
